Give the wagon a practical job behind the display
A trunk-or-treat theme might be a haunted library, a friendly monster or a pumpkin kitchen. Whatever the display looks like, the less visible supplies still need somewhere to go. Candy refills, spare bowls, napkins and cleanup bags can quickly take over the trunk.
Use a wagon to move those supplies from storage to the vehicle and from the vehicle to the designated setup area. Once unloaded, keep the wagon in the organizer-approved space behind or beside your station. The decorated trunk remains the visual centerpiece; a separate table or serving point handles distribution.
Pack three clearly separated kits
Treat kit: factory-wrapped candy in its original packaging where practical, a spare serving bowl and the bags needed for your plan. Keep product labels available rather than mixing everything into an unidentifiable pile.
Non-food favor kit: age-appropriate favors in a separate labeled container. Follow the event’s rules and the packaging guidance when choosing items. Keeping this kit separate makes it easier to offer a non-food choice without searching through the candy.
Setup and cleanup kit: removable clips, suitable tape, napkins, wipes and bags for wrappers. Keep cleanup products separate from treats. Add a small checklist to the top of this box so another volunteer can find things without unpacking the whole wagon.
Load in the order you will use the supplies
Place the heavier refill boxes low, then add the setup kit where it can be reached first. Use modest-sized containers that one adult can lift comfortably. A huge single box may fit the basket but still be awkward to transfer into the trunk.
Take out clips, fabric and decorations first. Once the display is ready, move the reserve stock into its assigned place and put the cleanup kit within easy reach of the adults. Keep enough free space around the station to turn without bumping the wagon or its handle.
The LUXEL 500W All-Terrain Electric Wagon in Black is the black cart shown in these illustrations. Its electrical controls and frame are not attachment points for a large cardboard costume. Keep themed decorations on the vehicle or a separate display, and keep the wagon’s handle, wires and wheels clear.

Plan a simple refill routine
Choose one small serving bowl and refill it from the reserve containers as needed. That keeps the visible station manageable and allows unopened stock to remain organized. Put empty packaging straight into the cleanup bag instead of back among full supplies.
Decide which adult handles refills and which stays at the serving point. For a busy event, this small division is more useful than several elaborate bins. Keep spare favors and candy easy to tell apart, especially as daylight fades.
Use the organizer’s approved layout. Do not place the wagon in the pedestrian route, in an accessible space or behind a vehicle that could move. Unload on level ground and maintain control of the wagon; the 500W model’s product listing specifies no parking brake.
Keep the theme consistent without covering the cart
For a haunted-library trunk, repeat purple and black in a folded liner and the table covering. For a pumpkin theme, choose orange bowls and a few lightweight props. One repeated color can connect the supply area to the main display without concealing the product or adding loose material near its moving parts.
If setup requires a powered trip, use the 500W two-battery checklist before leaving home. Keep the plan flexible: the event may allow wagons but restrict powered operation or require everyone to unload in one designated area.
Pack down in a useful order
Seal remaining supplies, separate opened items and remove wrappers before loading. Keep damp table coverings out of the clean favor boxes. The wagon can carry the final organized crates back to the vehicle without becoming a container for loose rubbish.
At home, unload it completely and follow the between-trip storage guide. Store the Halloween theme pieces together so next year’s setup starts with a labeled kit, not a search through the garage.
Frequently asked questions
What should I put in a trunk-or-treat supply wagon?
Use separate containers for wrapped treats, non-food favors and setup or cleanup supplies. Pack decorations where you can reach them first and place heavier refill stock low.
Should the wagon be the serving table?
Use a separate stable serving point and treat the wagon as transport and organized supply storage. Do not assume the basket rim is designed to support a tabletop or display structure.
Can I use powered assistance at the event?
Ask the organizer. Permission to bring a wagon does not necessarily include powered operation, and designated pedestrian areas may have additional restrictions.
